Against Me! Frontman, Tom Gabel, becomes a woman — and wife’s OKAY with it!

 

31 year-old Punk singer Tom Gabel from Against Me!, tells Rolling Stone that he is becoming a woman.  Against Me! is best known for their hit, “Thrash Unreal” — the band will be on tour with The Cult later this month.  Gabel has always felt disconnected from his body since he was a kid and has a condition called gender dysphoria.  “Growing up, my experience with transsexualism was nothing but shame,” Gabel said relating to his childhood.  He will be taking hormones and undergo electrolysis — gender reassignment surgery might be in the future as well.  He said, “I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun. But that’s part of what talking to you is about — is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind.”

No one has been more supportive than his wife, who is staying with him during and after this transformation!  They have a two year old daughter together and can’t wait to start their new life together as …… wife and wife.  Against Me! Frontman’s new name will be Laura Jane Grace — I guess hes making up for all the years he didn’t have a name as a girl.
