The winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood with a friend to attend the Campus DJ National Finale. This takes place at Avalon on June 20 to crown the nation’s top College DJ featuring a special surprise guest DJ. The winner will also receive a $3,000 prize pack courtesy of Jabra, Dubbler, MINI USA, Chegg, and the Monster Energy Outbreak College Tour.

We are all still in a state of trance. On Friday May 11, 2013 the number one DJ in the world was at Festival Pier. Directly across the street, Soundgarden Hall hosted a sold-out after-party that could have potentially topped AVB at Festival Pier. Rank1 and Tritonal headlined this epic event.

Rank1 was already performing when I arrived. The line was wrapped around the door and inside was already BUMPING. Close to a half hour after I was there, AVB surprised us all by showing up on stage and playing B2B with Rank1. The number 1 DJ and Trance God was within 15 feet from me. “Is this real life?!” I thought.

Tritonal still has not taken stage yet and I was excited to see what they could bring after a performance like that.

Tritonal is a trance duo (Chad Cisneros & Dave Reed), two guys from Texas. Within the past two years they have taken the EDM world to another level.

The crowd had so much energy and Tritonal started playing around 2:00 a.m., taking the stage by storm. Tritonal brought so much love and so much energy, you could feel the passion behind each song they played. I was not expecting their sound either. Every song was different from ‘Ladi Dadi’ by Steve Aoki to a ridiculous remix of ‘Stars’ by Vicetone. I had my phone out the whole time recording every song because the set-list was unlike anything I have ever heard. Songs like ‘Death Of Me’ by Estiva and Tania Zygar and ‘Bong’ by Deniz Koyu. Playing original songs like ‘Lifted,” and dropping two brand new songs.

Tritonal gained numerous Tritonians that night including myself.  Tritonal played until around 4 a.m. It is Sunday and I was finally able to move from my bed and join the real world. Tritonal is making moves, and I am so pleased to have witnessed such an experience.

I sat down with Tritonal at the show and asked them some questions.

[L]ifestyle: What are your names?

[T]ritonal: I’m Chad and I’m Dave.

L: What does Tritonal mean to you?

T: It’s our lives isn’t it? Ya I mean, Tritonal means a lot of groundwork to me now. Two weeks of just going through names, we found this name because it means something to us as people. Not only that, it means blood, sweat, and tears, 6 days a week in the studio for the past 5 years. That’s what it means!

L: What does your Summer tour entail?

T: It’s looking like 30-40 cities. Montreal, Oakland, Cleveland, Denver, NYC, Las Vegas, Chicago, L.A. I mean the list goes on and on and on. It’s going to be a tour based on Metamorphic. The second E.P. from that series is coming out during that tour. It’s going to be continuing to rebrand Tritonal and what we are now. Sort-of Tritonal 2.0 if you will. We will hit up all the markets that we played, as well as the markets that we haven’t like Nashville and college markets. We are really doing some of the groundwork for laying a foundation to build our career on North America.

L: What are your plans for Tritonia?

T: Well definitely to keep evolving. We are on number 8 now, and it has already evolved so much. We have a phone line where fans can call in and leave shout-outs and experiences with us. The show is geared towards our fans That’s what we love most about it. We just took over Enhanced Recordings with Will Holland. We will be doing an enhanced exclusive, one or two tracks before they get to anyone else on the show every week. Management is looking to syndicate it worldwide on FM radio stations. It’s on Sirius XM now and the syndication process is just about to start and you know, big plans. I am loving it.

L: Out of all the tunes you have which one never fails?

T: Definitely ‘Still With Me.’

L: Being from Texas, it is interesting to me you are a trance DJ. What has inspired the music you play?

T: It’s not like you go down to the honky-tonk and get inspired there (laughing.) We’re smart guys, we get online do the research, we have those geek moments. When I was 15 or 16 they didn’t have ASOT. We had to go down to the record store and get the vinyl wax from the DJs or find Sasha’s BBC radio 1 mix with Pete Tong and stuff underground. The music is so accessible to the kids now. We used to have to work to get the music. To me it’s a global market and a global economy. So whatever you’re into is at your fingertips really no matter where you are from. What we get inspired by is having gone from these small clubs to overseas and now playing main stage at EDC. You see what works at festival level to the masses. When our track is working on that level, that’s as big as it gets. So where Tritonal was, in terms of our sound and where we are going, yes they are a little bit apart but that’s because we see the vision of where we want to be and how many people we want to rock. Also, Dave was just saying in another interview, staying inspired musically. I can’t produce ‘Still With Me’ over and over and over again because A- you don’t want to hear it 500 times and B- I don’t want to make it 500 times. There’s no fun in that. The only way to stay inspired is to continue to grow and continue to change and do new stuff.

L: What is your favorite condiment?

T: (Dave) Tobasco! (Chad) Ketchup dude!!

L: One last question. I need to congratulate you guys. Piercing the Quiet produced eight 20 Beatport singles, five that held the number one position. You guys were named MTV Clublands top 10 artists to watch in 2013. Number 65 on DJ Magazines top 100 DJs of 2012. How does this all relate to where you guys are professionally, and where are you guys going next?

T: Well, those are great accomplishments. I mean, when we look at those we take a step back and take a breath and are like, “Wow, I can’t believe we just achieved those things.” You know, it also just pushes us even more because it’s fire under our asses to just keep pursuing what we want musically and as a business. It’s growth. At the end of the day though, if you are not showing up to clubs and selling out events, it doesn’t matter. We are and that’s where the true “Are we hott or are we not?” comes in. Because I can say I have 20 number one hits but it doesn’t matter, if nobody shows up at your show then they won’t book you again. The true test is the Tritonians buying tickets and they are. That’s why we keep working hard to produce new tracks.

Obviously Amanda’s new pink hair did not do her well, so she decided to go to the hair dresser. Amanda, 27, showed up to Blow hair salon, and spent 15 minutes in the bathroom before getting her hair done, which seems to be normal for her. Weird! Oh but it gets better, her credit card was declined twice when she tried to pay for her new doe. When it didn’t go through, the manager tells us that Amanda ran out the door, with their hairspray! Seriously girl, you don’t have your own hairspray? “She had bad extensions and we were working around her sunglasses and extensions. We gave her a great blowout,” the manager tells us. “We ran her credit card twice and it was declined. She was also trying to buy some hairspray too. Then she bolted on us, and took the hairspray with her!”

Leave it up to Amanda to further baffle us and leave us with our jaw dropped.  She was reportedly kicked out of a New York gym for smoking weed on 4/20. “I don’t smoke in the bathroom. I also don’t smoke pot I smoke tobacco,” said Amanda when she was caught red handed. Amanda, 90% of America knows what weed smells like, and who celebrates 4/20 in a gym bathroom?

If you are trying to be original than you are failing at that too! Britney Spears already shaved off her hair, which is called copying! Last week Amanda posted “I buzzed half my head like @cassie! No more old photos! This is the new me! I love it!” The new you, looks just like the old Britney Spears, it wasn’t cute the first time and definitely not the second time.

Amanda we liked the 90’s you, can you please go back to that please?
