Backstage with Bingo Players

Playing at festivals such as Electric Zoo and Ultra Music Festival, Bingo Players, Paul Bäumer & Maarten Hoogstraten, are definitely on the rise. With hits like “Cry (Just a Little)”, “L’Amour” and “Mode”(ft. Lil Jon), Bingo Players are setting themselves up for something big. Cry (Just a Little) has even hit top billboards in many different countries.

Lifestylers, B. Deks and Gina B. were able to attend one of their concerts recently at the Starlight Ballroom in Philadelphia. “The crowd was amazing and Bingo Players really knew how to put on a great show.” They were even able to head backstage where they took a few shots with Maarten and Paul of the Bingo Players.

Against Me! Frontman, Tom Gabel, becomes a woman — and wife’s OKAY with it!

31 year-old Punk singer Tom Gabel from Against Me!, tells Rolling Stone that he is becoming a woman. Against Me! is best known for their hit, “Thrash Unreal” — the band will be on tour with The Cult later this month. Gabel has always felt disconnected from his body since he was a kid and has a condition called gender dysphoria. “Growing up, my experience with transsexualism was nothing but shame,” Gabel said relating to his childhood. He will be taking hormones and undergo electrolysis — gender reassignment surgery might be in the future as well. He said, “I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun. But that’s part of what talking to you is about — is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind.”

No one has been more supportive than his wife, who is staying with him during and after this transformation! They have a two year old daughter together and can’t wait to start their new life together as …… wife and wife. Against Me! Frontman’s new name will be Laura Jane Grace — I guess hes making up for all the years he didn’t have a name as a girl.

“Laura” will be appearing in the June issue of Rolling Stone which hits newsstands Friday.

Lady Gaga: From Meat to Cartoon

Lady Gaga has put herself on the Hollywood map with outrageous music videos and unheard of “costumes” she rocks on and off the red carpet. But she doesn’t stop there! During her Born This Way tour, Lady Gaga stops in Tokyo yesterday to pose for her new animated look featured on the Simpson’s episode “Lisa Goes Gaga”. In this episode, she will be featured in 18 different outfits — I don’t know about you but I am excited to see what wild outfits she will be wearing. Gaga will help guide Lisa who is a social outcast; which in reality this pertains to her anti bullying values. After reading the script Gaga said, “I play a bit of a slut. The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”

The Roots Picnic 2012

Making its 5th annual appearance, the Roots Picnic is bigger and better than ever. This year the music festival will be two days instead of one, held June 2-3, and will feature musical acts hand selected by The Roots themselves. Kid Cudi, Wale, De La Soul, and Diplo are a few scheduled to perform.The concert will take place on the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing with both one and two-day passes available.

Governors Ball NYC Music Festival

The Governors Ball Music Festival comes to Randall’s Island, a small strip of sand in between Manhattan and the Bronx, 6/23-24, and today it announced its lineup via a YouTube video that stars a dancing paramedic. This year’s festival has a bill that leans pretty heavily on established party-up indie-kid fare: Beck, Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Explosions In The Sky, Major Lazer, Santigold, Passion Pit, Duck Sauce, Chromeo, Special Disco Version, Cults, Devendra Banhart, Atmosphere, Phantogram, Freelance Whales, Cage The Elephant, and a few others will play, with the bill split pretty evenly between a synthy day and a guitar-heavy day.
