Whoever said that sketching superheroes, cartoons, and video game characters was “child’s play” was right. This Saturday and Sunday (June 9-10), Solmssen Court at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts will host the 2012 Philly Draw-A-Thon. Beginning at noon on Saturday, talented local artists and cartoonists will be working non-stop to create as many renditions of popular comic and video game characters as possible before noon on Sunday.
This 24-hour sketch fest will raise money for Child’s Play and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Founded in 2003 by the creators of the popular web comic Penny Arcade, Child’s Play is a charity dedicated to improve the lives of children by providing them with toys and games to serve as an enjoyable and entertaining distraction from otherwise unpleasant experiences.
Should you admire one (or many) of these original masterpieces, all it would take is a donation of 10$ for you to bring it home. This donation will go directly to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and will be used to buy games, toys, movies and more for sick children.
