Philly rapper Mic Stew recently won the 2012 Red Bull Emsee National Freestyle Competition. The rapper beat out thousands of participants to win the crown.
Winners from eighth regional competitions came together on Atlanta for the event. The winner of the competition would win $10,000 cash and recording time at Red Bull studios in LA with a producer of the winners choice. The rappers were judged by rapper/producer David Banner, Big K.R.I.T. and DJ Premier. The judges also treated the crowd with their own performances.
Mic Stew beat all eight competitors to win the crown. The last round was so close that the judges determined a third round was necessary. Mic Stew’s opponent began freestyling about his mother, who happened to be in the front row. Mic Stew used that to his advantage and defended his mom in his rap, which would eventually lead to him being crowned the 2012 Red Bull freestyle champion.
